Technology not only is practical but necessary to stay competitive and viable in today’ s Heavy Duty industry.  The growth of every business today is tied directly to technology of one form or another.  An increasingly popular tool today is the wireless device.  PLUSS Corporation and PTM Inc. have made provisions for such technology for use with the PTM software and other 3rd party software programs.

Wireless for example, allows for accessing critical data from anywhere covered in a “hotspot” (signal range of the wireless access point).  There is, however, an issue of security that must be taken seriously.  Using Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) encryption is no longer good enough.  A qualified network engineer will be needed to properly configure the wireless network OR it will be wide open to the world and give anyone within signal range access to your data.

Whether using Wireless, LAN, WAN, VPN, or Internet, the Communications Division at PLUSS Corporation can design, implement, and maintain your systems (Short-term and long term packages available).

PLUSS Corporation also offers an array of solutions utilizing the latest cutting edge technology.  For example, Symbol and PTM created a solution that will allow a user to access and update customer, inventory, invoices, work orders, and purchase orders using a Symbol PDA Pocket PC 2003 that sports an integrated barcode scanner.  With this unit, the possibilities are endless.  Now a parts person can scan items directly onto a work order without having to upload the data from a conventional handheld unit.  Additionally, a mobile road mechanic or salesperson can sell parts and then update customer information at the main location electronically as long as there is a solid Internet connection.   These are just a few of the many advancements that PTM Inc. and PLUSS Corporation have and will continue to mutually develop.

PTM has also invented a new communications method between multiple locations.  This new enterprise level software uses a hybrid of SOAP, XML, and .NET technologies that make it a prime candidate for transmitting over wireless networks.  This software called PTMConnect offers live transaction capability to multiple locations.  Unlike old technology that uses terminal connections or a centralized database, this form of communications allows each store to keep running while the network/Internet connection between locations fail.  In combination with an SSL VPN, transactions and communications between the locations are the most secure you will find on the market.
