Websites 101
Part III - Choosing the Right Words
Everything you say and do says something about
you. This has never been truer than in a text-based environment
like the Internet. You have one chance to make a good impression
and convey what you want to say, so you must use it wisely.
During any conversation your tone of voice,
choice of words used, the way words are said, pauses, etc. all provide
emotion and meaning over and above the actual words being spoken.
The same is true of website content. Your choice of words and how
you present it says a lot about you, your organization and your
priorities.
It can reveal:
- your business priorities
- how your organization is structured and run
- whether you focus on your customers
- how you deal with things
- if you are easy to deal with
- your attitudes
- whether you pay attention to detail
- if you are trustworthy
- and more...
So, what is your website saying about you? Are
you sending out a positive and useful 'message' to potential customers?
